AfYEF President Siita Sofo Appointed to National Sports Museum Committee

The President of
the AfCFTA Young Entrepreneurs Federation, Hissan Siita Sofo, has been
appointed as a member of a newly-inaugurated 15-member Inter-Institutional
Joint Committee tasked with establishing Ghana’s first National Sports Museum.

The committee was
officially inaugurated by the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams,
at a ceremony held at the Ministry’s conference room. The initiative forms part
of government efforts to preserve Ghana’s rich sporting heritage and promote sports
tourism.

Mr. Siita Sofo’s
inclusion on the committee indicates the growing recognition of youth-led
entrepreneurial organizations in national development. As President of AfYEF,
he has been instrumental in championing youth empowerment, innovation, and
cross-border business opportunities across Africa.

Speaking during the
inauguration, the Minister underscored the importance of the proposed museum as
a hub for education, research, and inspiration. He noted that the facility
would document Ghana’s sporting journey while motivating future generations to excel.

The committee has
been given a 90-day mandate to develop a comprehensive framework for the
establishment and operationalization of the museum. Key responsibilities
include identifying a suitable location, designing the facility, and curating
exhibits that reflect the achievements of Ghanaian athletes across various
disciplines.

Mr. Siita Sofo,
alongside other committee members drawn from key institutions such as the Ghana
Tourism Authority, Ghana Museums and Monuments Board and the National Sports
Authority, is expected to contribute his expertise toward ensuring the
successful realisation of the project.

The establishment
of the National Sports Museum is expected to boost sports tourism, strengthen
national identity, and celebrate Ghana’s sporting legacy.

It is the second
time in just months that Mr. Siita Sofo has received an appointment to
undertake a national assignment. In January this year, the seasoned
entrepreneur was appointed to the Board Committee of the Ghana Creative Arts
Agency.

His appointments
are seen as a step in bridging youth entrepreneurship with national heritage
and creative development.
