Mfantsiman Girls SHS To Mark 66th Anniversary Speech and Prize-Giving Day
Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School is set to celebrate its 66th Anniversary Speech and Prize-Giving Day from Thursday, September 24 to Sunday, September 27, 2026, with the 2001-year group of Mfantsiman Old Girls’ Association (MOGA) hosting the celebrations.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, will be the Special Guest of Honour at the main ceremony on Saturday, September 26.
The anniversary is being held under the theme, “Unlearn to Relearn: The Art of Adaptability in a Rapidly Changing World,” which underscores the importance of equipping young people with the mindset, skills and resilience required to navigate rapid changes in technology, education and the world of work.
The theme reflects the school’s belief that in today’s fast-evolving world, knowledge alone is no longer sufficient. Students must be prepared to challenge outdated assumptions, embrace new perspectives and continuously adapt to emerging opportunities and challenges. Through unlearning and relearning, they can develop the confidence, creativity and resilience needed to thrive and lead in a changing world.
The four-day celebration will feature a welcome street carnival, Health Walk, a medical outreach initiative dubbed “Share2Care”, career guidance and mentorship, the main Speech and Prize-Giving ceremony, a 1990s-themed jam, and a Founders’ Day and Thanksgiving Service.
As part of the Share2Care initiative, medical supplies will be presented to the school’s infirmary and the Saltpond Government Hospital to support healthcare delivery for students and the wider community. The career guidance and mentorship session will also provide students with opportunities to engage with the old girls from diverse professional backgrounds and gain insights into career development and the world of work.
The main Speech and Prize-Giving ceremony will recognise academic excellence and other outstanding achievements among students, while deserving members of staff will also be honoured for their contributions to the school.
Reflecting on the upcoming Speech & Prize-giving Day, President of MOGA, Mrs. Henrietta Opokua Amissah, said the anniversary was not just a celebration of a milestone, but an opportunity to reflect on the future of the school and its students.
“This year’s theme is particularly relevant because the world our girls are preparing to enter is changing rapidly. We want our girls to leave Mfantsiman not only with knowledge, but with the courage, confidence and adaptability to keep learning, evolving and leading wherever they find themselves,” she said.
The Headmistress of the Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School, Mrs. Roseline A. Sowah-Tagoe said the management of the school looks forward to welcoming old girls from across Ghana and around the world back to their alma mater for this year’s Speech and Prize-Giving Day to celebrate the achievements of its students and honour the contributions of old girls.
“We are particularly excited about the opportunity to reconnect with our old girls, whose continued support, goodwill and commitment remain invaluable to the growth and development of the school”, says Mrs. Sowah-Tagoe.
The celebrations also form part of MOGA’s broader commitment to supporting the development of Mfantsiman Girls SHS, including efforts towards the completion of an ultra-modern ICT Library to strengthen digital learning, research and innovation.
The four-day celebration will climax on Sunday, September 27 with a Founders’ Day and Thanksgiving Service, bringing together students, staff, old girls, parents and members of the Mfantsiman community to celebrate the school’s rich legacy, achievements and future.
