Joshua Nii Armah Solomon declares intention to contest Okaikwei North NDC Constituency Secretary position

 Joshua Nii Armah Solomon has formally declared his intention to contest the position of Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Okaikwei North Constituency.

In a statement dated September 21, 2026, Mr Solomon said his decision was informed by his experience working within the party’s structures and engaging with members of the constituency.

He said the experiences had given him an opportunity to listen to members, understand challenges within the constituency and identify areas where the party’s organisation could be strengthened.

“I write with humility, commitment and a deep sense of responsibility to formally declare my intention to contest for the position of Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Okaikwei North Constituency,” he stated.

Focus on organisation and communication

Mr Solomon said he believes the office of Constituency Secretary should serve as more than an administrative position, describing it as a centre for organisation, communication, coordination and service.

If given the opportunity to serve, he said he would focus on improving the coordination of constituency activities and programmes, strengthening communication with members, executives and party structures, and ensuring regular engagement with branches and wards.

He also highlighted greater attention to opportunities that could benefit party members and the establishment of an accessible and responsive secretariat that works with all sections of the constituency.

“I believe in listening to people, working with people and creating room for good ideas to contribute to the development of our party and our constituency,” he said.

Mr Solomon added that his intention was not simply to occupy a position but to serve, work and listen.

Calls for support

As he begins his campaign, Mr Solomon is appealing to party members for their prayers, guidance, encouragement and support.

“Together, let us build the Okaikwei North Secretariat we want; a Secretariat that is organized, accessible, responsive and ready to serve,” he said.

He concluded his declaration with the message: “I am ready to serve. I am ready to work. I am ready to listen.”

Mr Solomon’s campaign is being presented under the themes: “A New Energy, A Clear Direction, A Stronger Secretariat, Experience to Serve, Capacity to Organise, Vision to Lead.”

The development comes as preparations for the NDC’s internal constituency-level elections continue. A previous report on the Greater Accra region also listed Joshua Nii Armah Solomon among individuals associated with the Okaikoi North constituency’s NDC internal political activity.

In a subsequent update, Mr Solomon said he had officially filed his nomination to contest the Constituency Secretary position and thanked supporters for their encouragement.
