KFC Ghana and Pizzaman ChickenMan Trade Jabs as GH¢15 Anniversary Deal Fuels X Banter

What started as a promotional post about chicken has turned into one of the more entertaining brand-to-brand exchanges on Ghanaian X, as KFC Ghana and Pizzaman ChickenMan traded playful jabs over food, prices and, of course, chicken.
KFC Ghana, which is celebrating 15 years in Ghana, recently rolled out a special anniversary offer that has caught the attention of food lovers.
The deal gives customers one piece of chicken, two chicken tenders and small chips for just GH¢15—a promotional price designed to mark the fast-food giant’s 15th anniversary in the Ghanaian market.
It was this anniversary deal that provided the ammunition for KFC Ghana’s playful intervention in a post from Pizzaman ChickenMan.
Pizzaman ChickenMan had shared a video of a live chicken with the caption:
“Pass by and Come for Rice with your…”
KFC Ghana couldn’t resist taking a shot at the post.
The brand’s X administrator replied:
“You be man try the 15 cedis some. You go tear your ACL 😂😂”
The humorous comment appeared to be a cheeky reference to KFC’s GH¢15 anniversary offer, with KFC essentially challenging Pizzaman ChickenMan to try the deal.
The exchange quickly attracted attention, with the post pulling in more than 269,000 views, alongside hundreds of reposts and thousands of likes.
When brands become entertainers
The exchange is a good example of how the social-media game has changed for brands in Ghana.
Rather than simply publishing adverts and waiting for consumers to respond, brands are increasingly giving their social-media administrators room to show personality, react to competitors and participate in conversations in real time.
KFC Ghana’s response was not a conventional advertisement. It was short, humorous and written in the familiar Ghanaian social-media language that made the joke immediately understandable.
Pizzaman ChickenMan’s original chicken video also provided the perfect setup for the response.
The result was less of a traditional advertising battle and more of a friendly “who sells the better chicken?” moment playing out in public.
GH¢15 becomes the punchline
For KFC Ghana, the banter also draws attention back to the real objective of the post: its 15th-anniversary GH¢15 deal.
For GH¢15, customers get a piece of chicken, two tenders and small chips—a combination that gives the anniversary campaign a strong value-for-money angle.
And with the offer becoming part of a humorous exchange with another popular Ghanaian food brand, KFC has managed to generate attention beyond a straightforward promotional message.
Whether you’re Team KFC or Team Pizzaman, the exchange shows that Ghana’s fast-food brands are no longer competing only through their menus.
They’re competing for your timeline too. 😂🍗
And judging from the engagement, both brands may have just served social media users exactly what they wanted: chicken, competition and plenty of banter.
