Beyond convoys of luxury cars and designer wear, the club has evolved into a tightly knit nexus of economic and political influence shaping the future of Ghana’s private sector.
While their doors remain closed to outsiders, the influence of the prestigious East Legon Executive Club members opens virtually every other door in Ghana.
They arrive in convoys of matte-black Rolls-Royces, candy-red Bugatti Veyrons and bulletproof Cadillac Escalades, their engines purring like apex predators at rest.
On weekends, the streets of East Legon, one of Accra’s most exclusive residential enclaves, shimmer with the gloss of G-Wagons and the glint of gold chains beneath tailored Italian linen. These are no ordinary meetups. These are the curated congregations of the East Legon Executive Club, Ghana’s most powerful, private and affluent circle of business moguls, politicians and social heavyweights.
Known for opulence and a tightly knit brotherhood, the club’s members are not just high-net-worth individuals. They are cultural icons, boardroom titans and social media darlings.
This is the crème de la crème of Ghanaian capitalism. While membership is strictly by invitation — whispered among power brokers and blood brothers — their reach spans every sector, including banking, media, hospitality, real estate, manufacturing, agriculture and energy.
So who exactly are the power players behind this elite club? Here’s your front-row seat to Ghana’s ultimate “big boys” club.

1. Osei Kwame Despite
This is a self-made mogul whose rise from cassette seller to media magnate is the stuff of legend. He owns a powerful portfolio spanning media (Peace FM, UTV, Neat FM), food manufacturing (NEAT and Antona Foods), finance (Best Point Savings & Loans) and more. He is the chairman of Despite Group of Companies, and his G-Wagon fleet is a staple at East Legon events.

2. Ernest Ofori Sarpong
Despite’s business soulmate and closest confidant, Sarpong is the engine behind Special Ice and a major player in real estate and construction via his business Special Investments. He co-founded U2 Salt and UTV and is a key investor in Best Point Savings. Sarpong’s lavish birthday bashes and custom-made designer suits are now club tradition.

3. Kennedy Asante Osei
The suave and ambitious son of Osei Kwame Despite, Kennedy Osei brings fresh energy to the club.
Beyond his role as the general manager at Despite Media Group and founder of East Legon Young Executive Men’s Fitness Club, he’s a prominent real estate developer and hotelier. He runs Golden Crest and Golden Crystal. His exclusive Young Executive Fitness Club quietly grooms the next billionaires in waiting.

4. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong
Love him or loathe him, you can’t ignore him. The maverick former New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker for Assin Central, Ken Agyapong owns a sprawling media empire: Net2 TV, Oman FM and Ashh FM. The politician and business mogul runs everything from real estate (Hollywood Shopping Centre) to farms and air-conditioner distribution. Known for speaking his mind, he is the club’s most controversial but no less influential member.

5. Samuel Osei Kuffour
From Champions League glory with German Bundesliga club Bayern Munich to real estate deals in East Legon, Kuffour’s transition from the pitch to the boardroom is seamless. His Godiva International School reflects his focus on legacy-building through education.
His tastes are mirrored in his choice of cars: understated but always top-tier.

6. Kwaku Manu
From Kumawood – local movies in Ghana’s second-largest city Kumasi – fame to East Legon property magnate, Kwaku Manu is the poster child of reinvention. He owns KM Golden Estate and Manu Enterprise, with a growing footprint in Obuasi and Accra. His December 2024 housewarming in East Legon Hills was his formal welcome to the club, and what an entry it was.

7. Clifford Poku Amankwah
The man behind Branch Health & Fitness and Bubbles Dry Cleaners, Cliff Poku is as much about discipline as he is about style. Under Poku Leisure, he’s building a business empire that straddles lifestyle, wellness and luxury living. His black-on-black Escalade is a club favourite.

8. Richard Nii Armah Quaye
The flashiest of the bunch, Richard Quaye threw one of Africa’s most expensive 40th birthday parties in 2025.
Through Quick Credit, Quick Angels and a bouquet of other brands (Chicken Man, Pizzaman, Burger King Ghana, Pinkberry), he is helping reshape Ghana’s SME landscape. His social media page is a masterclass in modern mogul marketing.
9. Aaron Owusu Boateng
Aaron, not pictured, operates more quietly, but his influence spans Ghana and the UK. Based in Milton Keynes in England’s Buckinghamshire, he’s connected to key healthcare and education investment networks and is occasionally seen at club events, especially the annual thanksgiving.

10. Daniel Kwame Boakye (Otega)
Otega was a rising force in real estate and technical services. His energy as project manager at Parkworth and previously with WearCheck Africa left a lasting impression with his peers. His legacy lives on through the club’s continued community initiatives in his honour.
